As part of the preparations for the 150th anniversary of the London Underground, Transport for London initiated a refurbishment project at Baker Street Station. Following a competitive tender process, Links Signs was selected to manufacture and install the station’s new signage.
The modernisation of Baker Street Station was a significant project led by Transport for London, aimed at revitalising one of the oldest stations in the network. Links Signs played a key role in this refurbishment by producing and installing new vitreous enamel signs across the station. These signs were selected for their durability and timeless appeal, aligning with the historic significance of Baker Street.
Approach
The project was conducted under London Underground’s Collaborative Planning Strategy, a system designed to ensure seamless coordination among all contractors working on-site. This approach minimised scheduling conflicts and ensured that all works progressed smoothly and efficiently. Links Signs worked closely with London Underground’s Capital Projects management team to meet the high standards required for such a prestigious project.
Conclusion
The successful delivery of the Baker Street Station signage modernisation showcases Links Signs’ ability to handle large-scale, complex projects within a highly coordinated environment. By contributing to the revitalisation of a historic station, Links Signs helped preserve its heritage while enhancing its functionality for future generations.
