Links Signs secured a contract to design, manufacture, and install illuminated station identity signage at Limehouse DLR Station.

The project had a strict 5-week deadline, requiring careful planning, from site-specific surveys to final installation.

Project Details

The project began with a comprehensive site survey by Links Signs’ teams, assessing the existing roof and steel structures to design an effective mounting system. The survey also identified site access requirements and time restrictions that needed to be followed strictly. All on-site teams were fully qualified, adhering to CHAS Accredited standards and OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety Management policies.

The Limehouse Station name signage featured 600mm tall, internally illuminated rim and return letters mounted to a bespoke support frame, designed for efficient one-piece installation. This approach minimized on-site installation time, ensuring the project stayed on schedule. The letters were pre-assembled and quality-checked in the factory before being transported for installation.

Additionally, the project included the creation of internally illuminated DLR roundels, designed with a full back tray and removable face for ease of installation. The roundels were installed alongside the station name signage using the same lifting and access equipment, streamlining the process.

Conclusion

The successful completion of the Limehouse DLR Station project highlights Links Signs’ expertise in delivering high-quality, time-sensitive signage solutions. By carefully coordinating the design, manufacturing, and installation processes, Links Signs ensured that the new station identity signage was installed efficiently, meeting the client’s tight deadline and enhancing the station’s visibility.
